Why Your Book Deserves More Than a Boring Cover — Because First Impressions Still Matter
Don’t judge a book by its cover, the saying goes.
Well, bullsh*t!
We all judge books by their covers.
If you’ve ever been on Amazon looking for a book, you know the cover grabs your attention first, and then you explore the book.
In a world where readers are scrolling through endless options, your book has less than 2 seconds to catch their eye before they swipe on to the next shiny thing.
So, it’s really important that your cover is eye-catching enough to stop the scroll so the visitor can explore your book above all the others.
Your cover isn’t just decoration. It’s your first pitch. It tells potential readers, “This is worth your time.”
So if your cover looks like a rushed template from 2007 or feels as exciting as a beige sock, you’re probably losing readers before they even read your blurb.
Whether you’re self-publishing or just building a brand, your cover has to stop thumbs mid-scroll.
Period.
Options: Study Design, Spend Lots of Time or Have A Big Cost
But I have a big problem in creating book covers.
I have no design skills or experience.
I can train in design concepts, which will cost and take me a long time.
Or I can pay somebody with those skills, with the cost each time and the time-consuming back-and-forths to get it right.
Or I can, shock horror, use AI to instantly give me those skills.
My Secret? Artistly.AI My On-Demand Design Sidekick
I bought into Artistly.ai a few months ago because I wanted to generate interesting colouring pages without a monthly subscription and a degree in prompting.
And it does that really well.
And, after I bought it, I discovered it does a lot more, including creating some amazing book covers from the minimum of prompts.

From Blank Canvas to Bold Concept in 60 Seconds
Okay, you deserve some proof.
Let’s imagine you have written a book for children called The Wizard and The Frog, and you need a cover.
Choose the Book Cover option from the design agents.
Note the many image generation options open to the user.

Briefly enter your ideas into the boxes and hit Generate.
No complicated prompt needed.

Artistly.ai then generates an extremely detailed prompt.
Choose your book size (I chose 6 x 9) and press generate book cover.

And, in a very short time, eh voila, a beautiful book cover!

Now, I see it’s added a fictitious author, but that’s just AI, isn’t it? If I had put an author name in, it may have printed it correctly.
Artistly has a powerful built in image editor so you could fix it in that, or take the image to Canva, or your favourite image software.
Or, as the Artistly.ai is a pay once, unlimited generations model, you could just generate it again. And again, and again, and again.
5 times, 10 times, whatever, until it gives the vibe you want. But it usually nails it very quickly.
Here’s another with a different look:

Your Cover Is the Hook So Make It Count
This is a very quick and easy way to generate amazing looking book covers, and it works for any type of book in any genre in many sizes.
If great design matters to your book’s success (and it definitely does), it’s worth exploring tools that make the process easier. Artistly.ai worked for me and it might be worth a look for you too.
